Do You Do Other Events?
I get this question a lot more often than you would think! People often hear that you are a wedding planner, so you probably don’t do other events. They think you only do weddings, so you’re not interested in other events.
So do I plan other events?
The Simple Answer is YES!
Yes, I do plan other events. Yes, I do coordinate other events. Yes, I do consult on other events. Holiday Parties - Christmas Parties - Birthday Parties - Anniversary Parties - Quinceaneras - Sweet 16s - Graduation Parties - BBQs - Corporate Celebrations - Corporate or Religious Conference Planning - Memorials - And so much more! Basically, I will plan, coordinate, and consult on any type of event.
So, why weddings? Why market myself as a wedding planner? That seems so limiting, so why say that?
Weddings are a different event altogether. I’ve said it many many many times - A wedding planner can plan other events. An event planner may not be able to plan a wedding. This theory is not 100% across the board, but from my experience, it is absolutely true.
Weddings are unique. Weddings are extremely specific, and include very specific details. All other events are comprised of some pieces that you may find in a wedding, but not all of them in one single event. Nothing is more intricate, emotional, and physically demanding, as a wedding. As a wedding planner, you have to be adaptable. You have to be flexible. You have to be ready to change the plan in a moment without notice. You have to have patience. You have to be conscientious of the emotions that are surrounding not only the event, but every little detail that is a part of the event. You have to understand and look for the items that mean the most to the couple, to parents, to grandparents, and everyone! This is an event that will be remembered forever, and there are extreme emotions.
A wedding may comprise of VIPs, special dressing rooms and accommodations, a ceremony, a cocktail hour, a reception, decorations at all of the events, specialty food and beverages, a cake, special dances and celebrations, toasts and speeches, prayers, special traditions, and so much more! This list is super basic, but as you can see, not all events incorporate all of these items, but all of these items will be at a wedding.
That is why I call myself a Wedding Planner - A Wedding Stylist - A Wedding Coordinator - A Wedding Consultant. These are different titles. They mean different things.
They all do mean wedding, but they also mean that yes, I can (and do) plan other events! I love event planning, and I love weddings.
I’m lucky because I get to do what I love to do.
