Now what?

This is where a lot of brides get stuck. The big stuff is in place, but what do you do next? Where do you go from here? You still have a few months of planning left before the wedding, but your creativeness just stopped. You don’t know what to do next.

STEP 1 - Give yourself a pat on the back!

You need to take a moment and breathe. You are further along in the process than you think. You have done a great job! You have identified the vendors, reached out to them, negotiated with them, signed contracts, and placed deposits. That is huge! Congratulate yourself on all of the hard work you have put in so far.

STEP 2 - The job’s not done…

Now that the big stuff is in place, you need to figure out where you are and what still needs to get done. Stop for a minute. Take a breath and close your eyes. Think about your vision. Go back to when you first got engaged. What did you want? What was your vision? Take out a fresh piece of paper and write it all down. Is everything you’ve put in place so far in line with that vision? If not, what needs to change? Have you settled for things that aren’t quite what you want? What needs to be added? What needs to be subtracted? How do you get back on track?

STEP 3 - Create your checklist

Create a checklist of everything you’ve got, and everything you still need. How are you going to bring this big beautiful wedding back to something you truly want to be at? What needs to happen to make that happen?

STEP 4 - Review those contracts!

They said all the right words. They were right in line with what you were thinking. They read your mind! You signed the contracts, and gave the deposits, but did you really review them?

Think about everything you thought you said and everything you remember them saying to you that they would give you. Is it in there?

STEP 5 - Come up with a new game plan

Now that you’ve brought yourself back to center, and you’ve really reviewed your actual wedding vision, it’s time to think out your plan of action. Who are you going to call? What do you absolutely need? What can you get rid of and stop worrying about?

STEP 6 - Start having fun!

Now is the time to start having fun! Take care of the big tasks that you’ve laid out, but start to think about centerpieces, and favors, and table decorations, and all of the cute little things that you want to do. Now is the time when you can start to rally your bridesmaids to make sure they see your vision for what you want.
