Why I Need A Coordinator

PICTURE THIS...

There I sat, on my bed, next to my maid of honor.  I had just purchased two tiaras that day.  My dress was over $1000, my petticoat (yes, petticoat!) was $300, my veil (oh how I loved my veil) was $300, my shoes were $250… but my tiara?  My tiara was buy 1 get 1 half off at a little girl’s junk shop!  I got 2 tiaras for $18… and I loved them!!

So there we sat.  My maid of honor, Heather, and I sat on my bed in my parents’ brand new house, each wearing a tiara, and reading through wedding magazines.  My dad came walking in to tell us something, and just rolled his eyes at the sight of this.

MY BRIDE TRIBE

I loved being a bride.  It was amazing.  I had an amazing “Bride Tribe”... and I only wish that phrase was around when I was getting married because they would’ve loved being called that.  I loved every minute of the planning.  I loved the decorations and the beauty of it all.  It was so much fun to plan.

THANK GOD FOR MOM!

But I had no clue what I was doing!  I look back now, and I realize that my mother did it all!  I did all of the fun stuff, but my mother contacted the vendors, asked the questions, reviewed the contracts, kept track of the deposit schedules… she did everything!  The day of the wedding, my mother kept track of every single vendor throughout the day, watched the timeline like a hawk, and kept all of the drama between my family members away from me.

I loved my wedding day, but only because I had a superhero behind the scenes running every little detail.  I didn’t know it.  My husband didn’t know it.  We only experienced the love, the joy, the fun, the laughter, the dancing, the food!  We had a blast!  It was by far my favorite day in my entire life!

Little did we know, there was drama between family members in the other limo.  There was a very strict timeline that needed to be followed for the limousine company.  There was drama with the photographer.  My mother ran the whole day.  When we finally reached the venue, the coordinator there continued right where my mother left off.  His name was Eric, and he was incredible!  He finally let my mother relax, and he ran the timeline for the cocktail hour, the introductions, the food service, the cake cutting… he did it all so my mother could breathe easy.

WHAT I LIVE FOR

I loved my wedding day.  This is why I do what I do.  I love working with couples so they can have that same, care-free, love-every-minute experience on their wedding day.  I am the Fire Fighting Fairy Godmother.  It is fun to fight the fires behind the scenes, and then set the scene to be everything the couple envisioned and more!  I love seeing the magic in their eyes when they finally see everything come to life.  It is what I live for. (I get a kick out of getting thank you cards after the wedding addressed to their “Fairy Godmother”.)

GIVE AWAY YOUR STRESS FOR ONE DAY!

I believe everyone needs a coordinator on their wedding day.  They need someone who is going to run the day for them so all they have to do is be in the moment.  It is a lot to handle, and it shouldn’t be yours to handle in that day.  You should get to enjoy the fun parts of the planning.  You should get to enjoy the fun parts of your wedding day.  If you are able to give the stress to someone else, why wait?  Why put that off?  Why intentionally put that on yourself?  It is one day.  One day where you get to not worry about the details.  That is why I needed a coordinator, and that is why I believe everyone needs one.

And yes. It is worth it!
